Japan Airlines (JAL) will transfer operation of its Tokyo/Narita–Chicago/O’Hare route to American Airlines.
This change comes as American Airlines will launch the same route on March 27, 2027. Under the framework of its joint business agreement with American Airlines, JAL aims to improve connectivity and convenience for transfers to and from various destinations across Asia.
JAL currently operates one daily round-trip on this route with Boeing 787-8 aircraft, consisting of a flight departing Tokyo/Narita in the morning and arriving in Chicago/O’Hare in the morning, and a flight departing Chicago/O’Hare in the morning and arriving in Tokyo/Narita in the afternoon. Customers who have already booked the Tokyo/Narita–Chicago/O’Hare flights operated by JAL will be offered rebooking options on alternative JAL flights.
JAL will continue to operate the Tokyo/Haneda–Chicago/O’Hare route, and together JAL and American Airlines will maintain two daily round-trips between Tokyo and Chicago.
