JR Kyushu Service Status for July 29 Following Kumamoto Earthquake
JR Kyushu will resume operations on the Kyushu Shinkansen between Chikugo-Funagoya and Kumamoto stations from the first departures tomorrow, July 31.
On July 31, service will operate between Hakata and Kumamoto stations, together with the already resumed section between Hakata and Chikugo-Funagoya stations. Services will operate at a reduced frequency, and through services to and from the Sanyo Shinkansen will be suspended.
JR Kyushu expects that restoration of the Kyushu Shinkansen section between Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo stations will take time, and has decided to suspend all services on July 31.
