Japan Airlines (JAL) has begun accepting donations through miles and Japan’s Furusato Nozei hometown tax program to support areas affected by the Kumamoto Earthquake.
Through “JAL Charity Miles,” the airline will accept mileage donations from JAL Mileage Bank members. The monetary equivalent of the donated miles will be contributed to support organizations, including the Central Community Chest of Japan, a social welfare corporation.
Through “JAL Furusato Nozei,” the airline will accept donations to municipalities across Kumamoto Prefecture via “Disaster Relief Donations.” The full amount of each donation will be delivered to the respective municipalities in Kumamoto Prefecture.
In addition, in response to the suspension of Kyushu Shinkansen services, the JAL Group has scheduled extra flights on the Fukuoka–Kagoshima route.
