ANA to Receive Boeing 787-9s With New International Cabin Interiors From November

All Nippon Airways (ANA) will begin receiving Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring new cabin interiors for international routes from November.

The cabin will have a total of 206 seats: 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy Class, and 137 in Economy Class.

The Business Class “THE Room FX” was developed in collaboration with Safran Seats and Acumen Design Associate. It features a 103-inch seat pitch in a 1-2-1 configuration. The suite doors and walls have been made thinner, while curved lines have been incorporated into the seatbacks. Forward- and rear-facing seats are arranged alternately. The seats are wider than those on ANA’s current Boeing 787-9 aircraft and use a pre-reclined design, with the seatback reclined in advance. The monitor has also been enlarged to 24 inches, and the seats feature wireless charging, USB-C and USB-A ports, AC power, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Premium Economy Class will feature the “R4” seat by RECARO Aircraft Seating. It is equipped with a six-way adjustable headrest, legrest, footrest, privacy wings, reading light, plastic bottle holder, under-armrest storage, AC power, and USB power. The seat features a single-piece table, a mobile-device holder built into the table, and a design that reduces the risk of injury if passengers accidentally let go of the table while stowing it. The aisle-side armrest can be easily raised to improve accessibility for wheelchair users. Weight has also been reduced by up to 10%. Seat pitch will be 40 inches, an increase of 2 inches, while recline will be 9 inches, also an increase of 2 inches. A 15.6-inch touchscreen monitor will be installed, along with USB-C power and Bluetooth connectivity.

Economy Class will feature the “R3” seat by RECARO Aircraft Seating. It will include a six-way adjustable headrest and a monitor with integrated USB power. Comfort has been enhanced by increasing legroom by 1 inch and improving ergonomic support. The seat is also approximately 2 kilograms lighter, contributing to reduced fuel consumption. Seat pitch will be 33 to 34 inches, and recline will increase by 2 inches. A 13.3-inch touchscreen monitor will be installed, eliminating the controller. The seats will include USB-C power and support Bluetooth connectivity.
