
JR East to Suspend Some Narita Line Services Due to Weather
JR Hokkaido has announced operating plans for its “Red Star” train from February 4 through March 28, 2027.
The “Red Star” will begin service between Sapporo and Abashiri stations on the Hakodate Main Line and Sekihoku Main Line. On Thursdays, the “Red Star Okhotsk no Kaze” service will operate from Sapporo to Abashiri, departing Sapporo at around 9:07 a.m. and arriving in Abashiri at around 3:59 p.m. On Sundays, the “Red Star Sekka no Kaze” service will operate from Abashiri to Sapporo, departing Abashiri at around 10:00 a.m. the following day and arriving in Sapporo at around 5:22 p.m.
In spring, the train will also operate between Kushiro and Shiretoko-Shari stations on the Senmo Main Line, under the names “Red Star Shitsugen no Ibuki” and “Red Star Sanroku no Mebuki.” The “Blue Star,” scheduled to begin service in June, will operate as the “Blue Star Oka no Irodori” Nos. 1 through 4 between Asahikawa and Furano stations, and as the “Blue Star Ryuhyo Monogatari” Nos. 1 through 4 between Abashiri and Shiretoko-Shari stations. Details of the lunch menu, lounge car events, the Red Star schedule between Kushiro and Shiretoko-Shari, and the Blue Star timetable will be announced once finalized.
Sales are scheduled to begin in early November for lunch plans and in early January 2027 for rail-only tickets. One-way fares per adult will be ¥39,000 for lunch plans in box seats and semi-compartments, ¥50,000 for lunch plans in five- and six-person private rooms, ¥100,000 for lunch plans in two-person private rooms, and ¥23,340 for rail-only tickets.
