JR East to Suspend Some Greater Tokyo Area Lines on September 22 Due to Typhoon No. 25
JR Kyushu, SBI Holdings, SBI Securities, SBI Shinsei Bank, and SBI Neofinancial Services have reached a basic agreement toward launching a new financial services business. They will begin full-scale consideration of introducing “JQ BANK” (tentative name), a financial super app exclusively for JR Kyushu Web Members.
JQ BANK will utilize the “Integrated Financial Platform” developed by SBI Neofinancial Services. In addition to BaaS (Banking as a Service), it will provide one-stop support for financial needs, including asset building and investment management. It will be the first initiative in Japan’s railway industry to add securities and other functions to BaaS.
Subject to JR Kyushu obtaining approval to operate as a bank agency with SBI Shinsei Bank as its affiliated bank, the companies aim to begin providing the service during fiscal 2027.
Using the “JR Kyushu Web Member ID” and “JR Q Point” as hubs, the companies will develop services linked to railways, real estate and hotels, station buildings, retail, and dining businesses. They are considering offering exclusive benefits, such as railway discount services and JR Q Points, based on customers’ use of financial services.
Through its initiative with SBI Shinsei Bank, the companies are considering setting a number of free withdrawals from convenience store ATMs and free transfers to other banks, offering “SBI Hyper Savings,” a yen deposit service that is automatically reflected in SBI Securities’ available purchasing power, awarding JR Q Points according to deposit balances, and providing special interest rates on home loans.
Through its initiative with SBI Securities, the companies are preparing “JQ CARD Recurring Investment,” which allows customers to purchase investment trusts using a JQ CARD; a service that grants additional JR Q Points according to the amount invested regularly; and a service allowing customers to invest accumulated JR Q Points in Japanese stocks, including JR Kyushu shares, and investment trusts. They are also considering “Point Investment,” which allows users to simulate asset management without opening a securities account. These services will also be linked with the “JR Q Point Wakuwaku Program” membership-tier service.
The companies also plan to incorporate insurance, crypto assets, FX, stablecoin payments, AI agents, media functions, and other services.
