JR East to Launch Ticketless Express Ticket Service for Tsugaru and Super Tsugaru Limited Express Trains
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will start a ticketless express ticket service for the Tsugaru and Super Tsugaru limited express trains from October 1st.
This service coincides with the launch of “Ekinet Q Ticket”. Sales period is from 10 AM one month before the ride date until the departure time of the train. The service is available for both standard car reserved seats and Green (first-class) car reserved seats. The fee is discounted by 100 yen (50 yen for children) from the reserved seat express fee.
For standard car reserved seats, both “Ticketless Express Ticket (Tok discount)” and “Ticketless Express Ticket (JRE POINT special)” will be launched. The “Ticketless Express Ticket (Tok discount)” offers a 35% discount for limited numbers of seats and sections. For example, the fee (during normal periods) from Akita to Odate Station is 1,220 yen, and from Akita to Shin-Aomori/Aomori Station is 2,290 yen. The “Ticketless Express Ticket (JRE POINT special)” is a ticket that can be exchanged with JRE POINT. The required points for exchange are 460 points for up to 50 km, 720 points for 51 km to 100 km, and 1,280 points for 101 km to 200 km.
With the launch of ticketless express tickets, the sales of “Limited Express Discount Value 1” and “Limited Express Discount Value 14” will end with the rides on September 30th.
