KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Receives Its First Airbus A321neo

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo.

The aircraft features Airspace cabins, offering a 60% increase in luggage bin capacity. There are 227 seats, all equipped with USB-C power outlets.

Flights will start in mid-September on the Amsterdam to Copenhagen, Berlin, and Stockholm routes, with subsequent introduction on the Amsterdam to Paris, Prague, and Vienna routes. Three more aircraft are expected to join the fleet by the end of the year.

Historically, the airline has named its aircraft after various themes including royalty, bridges, and national parks. The A321neo aircraft will be named after butterflies, with the first four planes named ‘Swallowtail (Koninginnepage)’, ‘Peach Blossom (Braamvlinder)’, ‘Common Brimstone (Citroenvlinder)’, and ‘Clouded Magpie (Porseleinvlinder)’.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plans to invest 7 billion euros in fleet renewal over the next few years. This includes replacing Boeing 737s with Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, and Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft with Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A350 aircraft. KLM Cityhopper will also introduce Embraer’s E2 models.
