Poland’s eSky Group Acquires Thomas Cook
Poland’s eSky Group has announced its acquisition of Thomas Cook from Fosun Tourism Group.
The deal, which excludes the Chinese operations, has an undisclosed purchase price. Fosun Tourism Group had announced it was selling for up to 30 million British pounds. The acquisition is anticipated to significantly grow Thomas Cook and enhance eSky Group’s position in Western Europe. The expansion is expected to increase the sales of dynamic packages, with sales revenues exceeding 233 million euros and a triple-digit growth forecasted. This move aims to transform from a flight platform to a virtual tour operator.
Fosun Tourism Group is part of Fosun International, which owns Club Med among other assets. eSky Group was founded in 2004 and has expanded its operations worldwide, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe. It operates in over 50 countries, including North and South America and Africa. In 2023, the company’s profit exceeded 19 million euros, a 42% increase from the previous year and roughly three times the figure of 2019. Its headquarters are located in Katowice, Poland.
Lukasz Habaj, co-founder and CEO of eSky Group, stated, “The synergies between Thomas Cook’s brand tradition and our technology will accelerate Thomas Cook’s growth and strengthen eSky’s position in Western Europe. This acquisition is part of our strategy to diversify our business not only in airline ticket sales but also in offering package holidays in existing markets in Europe and Latin America, with the aim of further expansion into Western Europe.”
