Icelandair Takes Delivery of Its First Airbus A321LR Aircraft
Icelandair has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321LR aircraft.
This aircraft is the first of four A321LRs that Icelandair will lease from SMBC Aviation Capital, marking the airline’s initial move into Airbus aircraft operations. The airline plans to bring in a total of 13 Airbus A321XLR aircraft to continue its fleet modernization.
The aircraft features 22 seats in Business Class and 165 seats in Economy Class, totalling 187 seats. It incorporates Airspace, increasing baggage capacity by 60% thanks to larger overhead bins, and includes next-generation in-flight entertainment and the latest lighting systems.
Icelandair, based at Keflavik, utilizes its geographical position halfway between Europe and North America to operate a hub-and-spoke model, connecting various locations. Additionally, it offers up to a seven-day stopover in Iceland at no extra charge.
