JR West Completes Registration for Payment Service “Wesmo!”
JR West plans to launch the new payment service “Wesmo!” in the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year.
The company has become the first domestic railway operator to be registered as a money transmitter under the Payment Services Act. Following the registration, they have started recruiting merchants. Stores and companies can receive sales proceeds the next day with no initial or transaction fees. It also offers inter-business transfer features that can be used for payments to suppliers.
The concept is “Moving is Value,” aiming to enhance connections starting in Western Japan with the name meaning “WEST plus more” and “Moving hearts and futures starting from the West.”
For individuals, it allows charges from bank accounts and transfers between members, which can be combined with J-WEST cards and ICOCA to earn and use WESTER points in daily life.
