Lufthansa City Airlines Receives First New Airbus A320neo

Lufthansa City Airlines has received its first Airbus A320neo (Registration: D-AIJP) in Hamburg, Germany.

This is the first aircraft to be received as a new construction, named “Ingelheim am Rhein.” It features the new cabin specification Airspace, with enlarged overhead luggage compartments.

Lufthansa City Airlines is based in Munich and will expand its base to Frankfurt from 2026. The airline aims to strengthen competitiveness on short-haul routes, reinforce the group’s market position, and achieve planned growth on long-haul routes. The fleet will expand to a total of 8 aircraft, consisting of 4 Airbus A319s and 4 Airbus A320neos, and will reach 15 aircraft by the end of the year. The introduction of Airbus A220-300 aircraft will begin by the end of 2026.

For the summer schedule, the airline will newly serve seven cities: Barcelona, Paris/Charles de Gaulle, Düsseldorf, Rome, Edinburgh, Seville, and Bordeaux, expanding its network to 17 routes.
