White Bear Hotels Takes Over Operations of Higashitate Onsen Inn with Open-Air Baths Overlooking the Northern Alps

White Bear Hotels has taken over operations of “Higashitate Onsen Inn with Open-Air Baths Overlooking the Northern Alps” in Shiga Kogen, Nagano Prefecture, and began operations on April 1.

The inn offers 30 rooms in three styles: eight special rooms with open-air baths, Japanese-Western rooms accommodating up to five people, and Japanese-style rooms. The healing special rooms use natural materials such as “wood” and “stone,” and the two open-air bath special rooms in the style of old private houses and sukiya architecture include hot spring baths sourced from Hoppou Onsen. Meals feature seasonal ingredients unique to Shiga Kogen, such as Shinshu beef raised on Shinshu apples. Drinks include famous wines like “Hokushin Chardonnay” and “Kikyogahara Merlot,” as well as local sake and craft beers.

The inn is directly connected to the ski slopes at Higashidate Ski Resort, allowing for ski-in, ski-out access. Just a 50-meter descent from the slopes leads to the Higashidateyama Gondola station, offering quick access to the summit.

Access: 35 minutes by bus from Yudanaka Station on the Nagano Electric Railway Nagano Line, or about 1 hour and 20 minutes by bus from JR Hokuriku Shinkansen Nagano Station.
