Air Niugini has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220-300.
The first aircraft was introduced via leasing company Azorra, assembled at the final assembly line in Mirabel, Canada, and features a special livery using 11 colors to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence. The delivery flight will route via Vancouver, Honolulu, and Fiji to the airline’s hub in Port Moresby.
The cabin is configured with 138 seats. In addition to operating on domestic and regional routes, it will enable flights from Port Moresby to new destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Air Niugini becomes the 25th airline to operate the Airbus A220. The carrier has directly ordered eight A220-100s and will introduce three A220-300s on lease from Azorra.
