JR East and JAL Launch High-Speed “JAL de Hakobiyun” Export Service Linking Shinkansen and International Flights
Japan and Turkmenistan have agreed to promote activities aimed at launching nonstop flights between the two countries.
On December 20, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who visited Japan, and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held a summit meeting and made the announcement. They expressed expectations that, after the launch of nonstop flights, cross-border travel will become more active and economic exchange between the two countries will be further promoted.
In addition to advancing cooperation in the field of energy transition, the two countries will work to promote negotiations for the early conclusion of a bilateral investment treaty.
The presidents of the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan—visited Japan and held the first-ever summit meeting under the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue, which Japan launched in 2004.
