Midori Holdings will change the name of the acquired Ube Kosan Building to “Ube Gate Tower” as of April 1.
The Ube Kosan Building is a mixed-use complex consisting of offices and a hotel, completed in 1983. It was originally owned by the former Ube Kosan (now UBE), and the group company UBE Hotel opened the Ube ANA Hotel there. In 2011, it was rebranded as ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Ube. Due to the aging of the facility and a decline in users during the COVID-19 pandemic, it closed operations on March 31, 2024. According to the Yamaguchi Shimbun, Midori Holdings acquired the property in February 2024.
The hotel wing will open on the same day under the new name “Epoca Base Ube.” Targeting mainly domestic business travelers, it will operate as a business hotel, and given its proximity to the office wing and conference facilities, it is also expected to be used for training programs and meetings. Operations will be handled by the subsidiary Daiichi Hotel Management. The hotel will have 132 guest rooms.
