Heathrow Airport Eases Carry-on Liquid Restrictions with New CT Scanners
London Heathrow Airport has relaxed its restrictions on carrying liquids.
Until now, there was a limit of 100 milliliters per container. Passengers will also no longer need to remove electronic devices during cabin baggage screening. From now on, they will be able to bring up to 2 liters of liquids on board.
Through an investment of around £1 billion, next-generation CT security scanners have been fully installed in all terminals. This is the largest deployment in the world. At Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom, more than 97% of passengers were reportedly able to pass through security screening within five minutes in 2025.
As a result, the airport expects to reduce the use of disposable plastic bags required during screening by 16 million per year.
