Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 Partially Opens New International Security Checkpoint on September 3
Peach Aviation has revamped its domestic airport counters at Kansai International Airport Terminal 2 and began operations on April 1.
The new airport counters are divided into two zones: a “Baggage Drop Area” and a “Staffed Counter Area.” In the Baggage Drop Area, experienced travelers can easily complete procedures on their own. In the Staffed Counter Area, passengers can check in baggage over 20 kilograms and sports equipment, and a new universal design counter has been installed to accommodate diverse needs.
In the Baggage Drop Area, Peach has, for the first time, introduced automated baggage drop machines. Used together with the “Peach BAGGAGE TAG KIOSK” automated baggage tag issuing machines introduced in September 2024, passengers can check their baggage smoothly without lining up at the counters.
The brand design was also renewed on the same day, making this the first airport counter to feature Peach’s new design. The new counters will be rolled out to Narita International Airport on April 15, New Chitose Airport in late April, and Naha Airport in late May, before being gradually expanded to counters at other destinations in Japan.
Kansai Airports, the operator of Kansai International Airport, also began operation of the newly renovated sections of the same terminal on the same day. Smart lanes have been introduced to enable smoother security checks, while the departure lounge areas in the restricted zone have been expanded, and food court outlets will open in stages.
