On April 15, the Lufthansa Group held a ceremony at the newly established conference and visitor center “Lufthansa Group Hangar One” in Frankfurt to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Lufthansa German Airlines.
In his congratulatory address, Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated, “Lufthansa is part of Germany’s history and an important company for Germany as a business hub. Lufthansa’s success in connecting people and markets around the world for 100 years is, above all, the achievement of its more than 100,000 employees.”
Also opened on the same day, “Lufthansa Group Hangar One” will serve as a new collaboration hub for employees and will feature the historic aircraft Junkers Ju 52 and Lockheed Super Star on permanent display after extensive restoration. An open gallery has also been created where visitors can view exhibits related to the company’s history. The facility is scheduled to open to the general public in early summer.
Today, the Lufthansa Group has six hub airports and operates 14 companies. It has grown into a corporation with 110,000 employees. Its largest hub is Frankfurt, where more than 35,000 people work.
