Cathay Pacific Lounge at Narita Airport to Temporarily Close for Renovation
Landline and the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) will open the off-airport facility “Logan Airport Remote Terminal at Framingham” for Boston Logan International Airport on June 1.
This will be the first off-airport facility in North America to conduct security screening by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA). At the facility, passengers can complete check-in, baggage drop, and security screening, and then travel directly to the airside gate area of Boston Logan International Airport in dedicated vehicles. Security screening standards will be equivalent to those at the airport. The service is available to passengers flying with Delta Air Lines or JetBlue Airways. Delta Air Lines passengers will arrive at Gate A18 in Terminal A, and JetBlue Airways passengers will arrive at Gate C8 in Terminal C.
Departures from the remote terminal operate every hour from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Departures from the airport operate every 20 minutes from 6:20 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and every 30 minutes from 1:00 p.m. to midnight (the final service departs at 1:15 a.m.). The fare is 9 U.S. dollars for adults, and accompanying children ride free.
The number of airport passengers within the United States is forecast to exceed 1 billion in 2025 and reach 1.5 billion annually by 2040, making expansion of airport processing capacity a major challenge. This initiative is attracting attention as a new model that eases congestion and improves convenience without large-scale infrastructure investment such as building new terminals, by dispersing the airport entry points into urban areas.
