
Club Tourism Updates Measures in Response to Middle East Situation
On May 26, the Japan Tourism Agency announced that it will conduct a hearing prior to imposing an administrative sanction on JR East View Tourism & Sales, based on Article 65, Paragraph 1 of Japan’s Travel Agency Act.
In arranged travel contracts concluded no later than fiscal year 2018 and thereafter, the company collected from travelers amounts that exceeded the fees for handling travel services posted at its branches, constituting a violation of Article 13, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Travel Agency Act. The agency plans to impose an 18-day business suspension on the Tohoku & Hokkaido Regional Headquarters.
The hearing will be held from 2:00 p.m. on June 4 in Meeting Room 1 of the Japan Tourism Agency on the 15th floor of Central Government Building No. 2.
