GALA Yuzawa’s “GALA YUZAWA SNOW RESORT” will change its commonly used name to “GALA YUZAWA MOUNTAIN FIELD.”
With year-round operation as its main concept, the new name emphasizes its appeal as “a field for fully enjoying activities in the mountains.” Until now, it had been operating under the nickname “SNOW RESORT.”
The summer operating period runs from July 18 through September 28, marking the highest number of operating days in its history. To coincide with the summer season, a limited-period Shinkansen service will operate to and from Gala-Yuzawa Station. Direct summer services between Tokyo and Gala-Yuzawa Station will run for the first time in 26 years, since 2000. A shuttle bus will also operate between Echigo-Yuzawa Station and Gala-Yuzawa Station.
New attractions include the “Panorama Coaster,” a ride that glides using only the natural elevation differences of the terrain (305 meters in length, maximum of 5 passengers), and the “Panorama Seesaw,” Japan’s first giant electric seesaw (about 9 meters in length) installed at an elevation of approximately 1,030 meters. A new course will also be added to the “Mountain Kart” activity, which makes use of the ski slopes.
Admission to the Summer Park is 3,000 yen for adults and 1,500 yen for elementary school students. Initial activity tickets cost 2,000 yen for adults and 1,500 yen for elementary school students. Combination packages that include both admission and activity tickets will also be available.
