IHG Hotels & Resorts and Fujikyu Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership to rebrand Hotel Mount Fuji as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection.
Hotel Mount Fuji, which opened in 1963 as Japan’s first vacation hotel, is located at an elevation of 1,100 meters and features approximately 150 guest rooms, hot springs, a sauna, and a swimming pool.
Fujikyu Corporation has positioned this project as part of its 100th-anniversary initiatives. By coordinating with the group’s transportation, leisure, real estate, and other businesses, it aims to enhance the hotel’s role as a tourism hub around Mount Fuji and promote tourism and economic revitalization in the Fuji Five Lakes area. The company will shift toward the luxury segment and strengthen its efforts to attract international visitors to Japan, in addition to the domestic market.
Through this rebranding, the property will join IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio as the third Vignette Collection hotel in Japan. The brand has expanded to more than 79 properties worldwide.
Details of the extensive renovation and the opening date will be announced at a later date.
