Qatar Airways has launched its in-flight Wi-Fi service using Starlink, SpaceX’s low Earth orbit satellite communications service, on Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The airline began the rollout in October 2024, completing installation on Boeing 777 aircraft over nine months and on Airbus A350 aircraft over eight months. Installation on Boeing 787-8 aircraft was also completed in seven months. Installation across the entire Boeing 787 fleet will be completed by the end of the year.
Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite communications service offers high-speed, low-latency connectivity. Airlines including ZIPAIR Tokyo, Hawaiian Airlines, and United Airlines have already introduced Starlink.
