Korean Air will begin offering in-flight Wi-Fi service using Starlink, SpaceX’s low Earth orbit satellite communications service, on September 15.
The service will initially be installed on larger aircraft, including Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 777-300ERs, with installation on most of its fleet scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027. It will be available on medium- and long-haul routes to Europe, the United States, Southeast Asia, and other destinations, as well as on certain short-haul routes. On eligible flights, the service will be available free of charge in all classes. On aircraft not yet equipped with Starlink, Wi-Fi will continue to be offered for a fee.
Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite communications service is characterized by high-speed, low-latency connectivity. ZIPAIR Tokyo, Qatar Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and United Airlines have already introduced Starlink.
