Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Temporarily Suspends Issuance of APEC Business Travel Cards due to Material Shortages
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a temporary suspension of the issuance of the ‘APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC)’ due to difficulties in obtaining certain materials.
As of now, for those who have applied for the issuance, addition of a destination, or reissuance of the card by December 15th, it is scheduled that they will be able to receive their cards around early February, while for those who have applied by January 15th, the expected time frame is mid to late February.
The APEC Business Travel Card is a card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for business professionals from countries and regions participating in the system, facilitating smooth entry and exit from these places. Once pre-approved through evaluations by governments of the respective countries and regions, the holder is exempt from visa requirements when entering for short-term business purposes.
