JAL Engineering will sell products made from reused aircraft parts at Yokohama Takashimaya from July 24 to August 6.
This marks the third instance, following similar initiatives in June 2022 and April 2023. Products include the “Boeing 767 IDG Piston Keychain,” made from the IDG generator parts mounted on the engines of the Boeing 767 airplanes, “Life Vest Pouches” made from unused life vests removed from aircraft, and “Cabin Window Round Keychains” utilizing offcuts from when other products are made from passenger window materials.
A collaboration with TOKYO ACRYL, which is actively engaged in the recycling of acrylic, will also take place. This includes selling limited quantities of two types of “Shaka Shaka Keychains,” filled with small aircraft parts like bolts, washers, and bearings along with acrylic offcuts, and a Parts Display featuring selected electrical system parts installed in aircraft.
On July 27, an event allowing participants to experience the role of an aircraft maintenance engineer will be held. Starting times are at 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm, each session lasting 30 minutes. Capacity is limited to three participants per session, and prior reservation is required. The event targets students in grades 4 to 6.
The products will be sold at the Men’s Accessories Event Space on the 6th floor.
