Diners Club to Launch Black Metal Card
Diners Club is starting to issue a black metal card.
As a service for premium cardholders, who are at the top tier of Diners Club card memberships, the company has previously only issued silver cards. Especially, Diners Club members do not see credit cards merely as ‘payment tools’ but seek ‘material,’ ‘design,’ and ‘a sense of weight’ in them, and this addition has been made in response to numerous requests.
Unlike silver, which can directly utilize the metal’s material, blackening of metal requires processing, and it has been very challenging to express the same metallic feel while bringing out a profound jet-black appearance. The company notes, “This card offers a unique sense of weight distinct from the previous silver, brought forth by its deep black.”
At the same time, a metal card will also be added to the Business Premium Card. The front is laser-printed with ‘BUSINESS.’ Only black will be issued.
Applications for issuance will start on December 2. The issuance fee is 30,000 yen (including tax), the same as for the silver version.
