China Eastern Airlines will resume the operation of the Hanamaki-Shanghai/Pudong route on a temporary basis.
This is in response to the increased demand during the Spring Festival period, with operations running from January 18 to February 15, 2025. Flights will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using the Airbus A320 aircraft. The flight duration from Hanamaki is 3 hours and 50 minutes, and from Shanghai/Pudong is 2 hours and 55 minutes.
The resumption of this route marks the first time since February 2020, nearly 5 years. Consequently, the international routes from Hanamaki will include this line and the Tigerair Taiwan’s Taipei/Taoyuan route, totaling two routes.
The Iwate Prefecture Airport Utilization Promotion Council is conducting a campaign to support passport acquisition, offering a subsidy of 5,000 yen towards the cost for residents of Iwate Prefecture who meet the conditions.
