Lawson Opens a New Store with Walk-Through Payment at Osaka Metro Nakamozu Station
Osaka Metro and Lawson have opened the “S Lawson Go OSL Nakamozu Station Store” at Nakamozu Station on the Midosuji Line on November 13th.
This store introduces walk-through payment, allowing shoppers to simply pick up products and leave the store to complete their purchase. It becomes the second location nationwide, following a store inside the Tokyu Railway Futako-Tamagawa Station premises. The system called “Catch&Go,” developed jointly by NTT Data and the international startup Cloudpick, specializes in store digital transformation solutions.
After registering as a friend on LINE and registering a credit card, customers can obtain a QR code, which enables entry into the store. Upon picking up the desired products and leaving the store, the payment is processed automatically. The store uses a system that combines cameras installed inside the store and weight sensors on shelves to determine, with the help of AI, which products the customer has picked up.
The store is located in front of the ticket gates of Osaka Metro’s Midosuji Line Nakamozu Station. It operates from 7:00 AM until 9:30 PM. (Image: Osaka Metro Official X)
