Keisei Skyliner to Launch AI Facial Recognition Boarding Service ‘Skyliner e-ticket Face Check in Go’ on January 24
Minatomirai Line Begins Pilot Project for Boarding with Touch Payment and QR Codes Starting December 4
Yokohama Rapid Railway has started a pilot project for boarding with touch payment-supported credit cards and QR boarding passes on the Minatomirai Line from December 4.
The project is conducted in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, JCB, Nippon Signal, and QUADRAC, utilizing the public transportation solution “stera transit” provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card.
Passengers can board and alight by touching their cards or smartphones, which support touch payment, against newly installed dedicated readers at the ticket gates. The compatible brands include Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard to be added sequentially. Boarding with QR boarding passes is possible by presenting the QR passes, purchased from ticket sales sites and others, to dedicated readers installed at automatic ticket gates. The sales utilize the digital ticket service “Q SKIP” provided by Tokyu Corporation.
Tokyu Corporation, which operates direct services to and from the Minatomirai Line, has already started the same service, allowing for the use across the two companies’ lines.
