AirAsia Starts Selling ‘Tony’s Chocolonely’ Chocolate: Collaboration Realized Through CEO’s Social Media Post
AirAsia has begun duty-free sales of chocolates from the Dutch brand ‘Tony’s Chocolonely’.
The collaboration came about after Tony Fernandez, the CEO of Capital A (formerly AirAsia Group), posted a photo of himself with the company’s chocolate on LinkedIn, stating, “My dream is to buy this company after I retire.”
This marks the first time AirAsia is selling chocolates as duty-free goods. Customers can pre-order them as well as purchase them on flights operated by AirAsia, AirAsia X, and AirAsia Indonesia.
On December 23, special gifts containing chocolates were handed out to passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, with CEO Fernandez making an appearance.
CEO Fernandez stated, “Everyone knows how much I love chocolate. I admire their mission to eradicate exploitation in cocoa plantations and make 100% slave-free chocolate even more. I am proud that our two teams could collaborate to offer ethically produced confections on our duty-free platform and onboard. I recommend pre-ordering before your flight to enjoy Tony’s guilt-free chocolates.”
