Manpei Hotel to Make Asanoya Its Subsidiary
Mori Trust has announced that Manpei Hotel, a consolidated subsidiary, will make Asanoya a subsidiary. The group will integrate Asanoya on January 31, 2025.
Asanoya, established in 1933 in Kojimachi, Tokyo, operates the long-established bakery “Blanger Asanoya”. Responding to demands from foreign diplomats and others, it opened its Karuizawa store in 1944 and currently has 16 stores in the Kanto region and 3 in Karuizawa. In the 1980s, Asanoya was the first in Japan to install a circular stone oven to replicate the stone oven bread that was popular in Paris at the time. It is also known for its high level of technical skill, actively incorporating natural yeast in bread making.
Manpei Hotel, founded in 1894, became a subsidiary of Mori Trust in February 1997. In October this year, the hotel underwent significant renovation and reconstruction and reopened.
Directors from the Mori Trust Group will be dispatched to Asanoya to aim for synergies between the two companies. Leveraging Manpei Hotel’s know-how in café management to strengthen the café operations of “Blanger Asanoya”, and tackling product development in Manpei Hotel’s souvenir and food division. Furthermore, efforts will be made to enhance the product strength and variety of breads in the 35 hotels, resorts, and café facilities operated by the group within Japan.
