Japan Airlines (JAL) will change airport standby and same-day upgrade standby policies starting from February 20.
Standby results will be notified via email or app between 15 to 20 minutes before the departure time. Those who applied online can board directly using the app’s boarding barcode, without stopping by the counter. Depending on the application details and seat availability, a visit to the counter may still be required.
JAL Mileage Bank members will have their payment processed automatically online once a seat is secured in the same-day upgrade standby. Non-members will be guided at the counter.
Applications for airport standby and same-day upgrade standby can be made via the website or app from 3 hours to 20 minutes before the desired flight’s departure.
