JAL upgrades English Afternoon Tea on London/Heathrow–Tokyo/Haneda flights from Sept 1
Qatar Airways began offering a collaborative inflight menu created with Chef Masahiro Haruta of the two-Michelin-star restaurant Crony on October 1, in Business Class on flights from Tokyo/Narita to Doha.
The special three-course menu features chawanmushi that brings out the umami of kombu as an appetizer; wagyu beef finished with a black vinegar sauce and a matcha onigiri as the main; and “Cloud,” a white chocolate and vanilla mousse inspired by clouds, for dessert. With an emphasis on sustainability and seasonality, ingredients are sourced domestically within Japan.
Chef Masahiro Haruta commented, “I am truly honored to collaborate with Qatar Airways, the world’s best airline. Through this collaboration, I am delighted to introduce my commitment to ‘sustainable Japanese gastronomy’ to customers around the world. Qatar Airways is widely known for its outstanding inflight dining. In pursuit of the finest premium experience, the airline is meticulous down to the smallest details and makes no compromises in the creation of special menus, which left a deep impression on me. With this menu, I hope to showcase Japan’s wonderful ingredients and deliver an unforgettable culinary experience in the sky.”
