JCB Plaza Lounge Honolulu Reopens on April 1
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau will begin sales of the “Shimapo Currency” at noon on May 14.
This is a premium accommodation travel voucher that can be used at participating stores in the island areas of Tokyo, Japan. For 7,000 yen (tax included), travelers can purchase one set of “Shimapo Currency” worth 10,000 yen. Of the 10,000 yen, 3,000 yen can be used only at accommodation facilities. The eligible areas are 11 of Tokyo’s islands: Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurajima, Hachijojima, Aogashima, Chichijima, and Hahajima.
The planned number of sets for sale is 80,000. For fiscal 2026, a total of 120,000 sets are scheduled to be sold, and additional sales will be announced separately. Each person can purchase up to 8 sets in total. The sales period runs from noon on May 14, 2026, until March 31, 2027, and will end once all sets are sold out. The validity period is either 180 days from the date of purchase or until March 31, 2027, whichever comes first.
Purchases can be made by registering for the electronic Shimapo (“Tokyo Island Hopping PASSPORT”) via the official website. Identity verification using a My Number Card, driver’s license, or similar ID is required, and identity verification will start in advance from May 11.
The electronic Shimapo also offers a digital stamp rally on the islands. By scanning QR codes at stamp locations on each island, visitors can obtain digital stamps featuring illustrations that reflect each island’s characteristics, as well as earn points. Depending on the number of points collected, participants can receive commemorative gifts or take part in prize draws.
