Ascott to Open Oakwood Oimachi Tracks Tokyo on June 25
mesm Tokyo will collaborate with the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo to offer Afternoon Exhibition Chapter 16, “Boating – Sparkling on the Water,” from April 1 to May 31.
The theme is “Boating” by Claude Monet. The menu features eight sweets and savories that trace Monet’s life, including the French pastry “Saint-Honoré,” said to have been created in Paris around 1840; the traditional pastry “Puits d’Amour,” beloved in 19th-century Normandy; “Savarin,” believed to have been devised by a Parisian pastry chef around the 1840s; and a salad inspired by the story of Monet holding exhibitions with his friends in the suburbs of Paris. The mocktail is a single special drink inspired by France’s flavored tea culture and by Monet himself, who was fascinated by Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints and loved Japanese design. The main dessert plate captures the scene of a small boat and expresses the changing colors of the rippling waves. Layers of raspberry and Muscat grape jelly are combined, topped with a chocolate tart and mascarpone cream piped in the shape of two women.
The venue is Whisk, the bar and lounge on the 16th floor. On weekdays, it is served in four seatings starting between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays in three seatings starting between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The price is 7,000 yen per person, or 8,350 yen including a ticket to the permanent collection of the National Museum of Western Art, tax and service charge included.
