Suntory has begun offering tours of the “Spirits & Liqueur Workshop” at the Suntory Osaka Factory from May 8.
The Suntory Osaka Factory is the company’s oldest plant, built in 1919 in Osaka, the birthplace of the company, by founder Shinjiro Torii, who aspired to create “Western-style spirits made in Japan.” At the “Spirits & Liqueur Workshop,” completed in 2024, Suntory produces items such as Suntory Japanese Craft Gin “ROKU,” Suntory Gin “SUI,” and Suntory Liqueur “KANÁDE.”
This is the first time that the factory tour has been opened to the general public. On the tour, visitors can learn about the factory’s history and actually see the products and the botanicals used as ingredients for gin. At the “Spirits & Liqueur Workshop,” guests can view the maceration tanks and pot stills that are in actual use. Participants can taste the base spirits used for “ROKU” and purchase the factory’s spirits and liqueur products as well as limited-edition merchandise. A 200ml bottle of “ROKU” is provided as a souvenir.
The tour takes 80 minutes. The participation fee is 3,000 yen (tax included). Open only to those aged 20 and over. Participants are chosen by lottery.
