Cathay Pacific Places Additional Order for Airbus A350F Freighters

Cathay Pacific Airways has placed an additional order for two Airbus A350F aircraft.

The airline had ordered six aircraft in December 2023, and with this additional order, the total number on order has increased to eight.

The Airbus A350F freighter has a maximum payload of 111 tons and a maximum range of 8,700 kilometers. By using state-of-the-art materials for more than 70% of the airframe, its takeoff weight has been reduced by 30 tons. Equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 40% compared to the Boeing 747F and by 20% compared to competing freighters.

Cathay Cargo, the cargo division of Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways, currently operates a total of 20 freighters, comprising 14 Boeing 747-8F aircraft and 6 Boeing 747-400ERF aircraft.
