Chuo Ward and Minato Ward in Tokyo will bring back the “Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Festival” on October 24.
Organized by the Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Festival Executive Committee together with Chuo Ward and Minato Ward, the event will be held for the first time in 11 years since 2015 as a commemorative project marking the 80th anniversary of Chuo Ward and the 80th anniversary of Minato Ward’s establishment.
The launch site will be offshore near Harumi Pier in Tokyo Port, and the fireworks will be launched from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Approximately 12,000 fireworks will be set off, and around 108,000 spectators are expected.
All viewing areas will require advance applications (ticket system). Ticket prices will range from 5,000 to 10,000 yen depending on visibility and other conditions. All venues in Chuo Ward and Minato Ward and some venues in Koto Ward will be priority venues for ward residents, and ward residents will receive a 5,000 yen discount off these prices. Ticket sales for the resident-priority venues are scheduled to begin in early July.
Viewing venues will be as follows: for Chuo Ward residents, five locations including Harumi Wharf Park, Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal, Harumi Greenway Park, and Toyomi Sports Park (about 42,000 people in total); for Minato Ward residents, five locations including Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal and Odaiba Marine Park (about 39,000 people in total); for Koto Ward residents, Toyosu Park (about 2,500 people); and for the general public, four locations including Toyosu Gururi Park and Ariake Seaside Park (about 24,500 people in total). In the waters within Tokyo Port, there will also be an area where vessels that have purchased a signal flag can watch the fireworks from offshore.
