Starlux Airlines will introduce a new in-flight meal service from July 1.
On premium economy class and economy class flights from Osaka/Kansai to Taipei/Taoyuan, the airline will serve Kansai-style okonomiyaki in collaboration with the long-established okonomiyaki restaurant “Chibo.” Passengers can create an immersive dining experience by adding Chibo’s special sauce and mayonnaise themselves, and finishing the dish with aonori seaweed and bonito flakes. Takoyaki and omelet yakisoba will also be gradually added in the future.
On business class flights from Fukuoka to Taipei/Taoyuan, a special online pre-order-only menu of hand-ball sushi (six varieties: eel, squid, marinated salmon and ikura gunkan, mackerel, shrimp, and redfish) will be available.
On business class, premium economy class, and economy class flights from Taipei/Taoyuan to Sapporo/Chitose, Hakodate, and Sendai, as well as other routes with a flight time of three and a half hours or longer, the airline will serve the new flavor “Black Sesame Rice Cake Mochi” from the popular Taiwanese ice cream brand “NINAO.” On first class and business class flights to Europe and North America, a special gelato flavor, “White Peach & Sea Salt Milk,” will be offered.
On first class flights from Taipei/Taoyuan to the United States, Starlux will serve a new seasonal menu supervised by Chef Kai of the Michelin three-star restaurant “Taïrroir.” The menu consists of an appetizer inspired by Taiwanese oyster omelet (蚵仔煎) and savory soybean milk (鹹豆漿), a main dish of Taiwan-style bone-in short ribs, and a dessert of pear compote with white wine and sweet osmanthus.
