Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia Strengthen Partnership
Solaseed Air marked its 20th anniversary of the Nagasaki-Tokyo/Haneda route on August 1, hosting a commemorative event.
At the departure gate of Solaseed Air flight SNJ36 from Nagasaki to Tokyo/Haneda, a group interview with new President Shinsaku Yamagi, who took office in June, was held.
President Yamagi expressed gratitude on this milestone, stating, “I am extremely pleased and honored. This long-standing operation is thanks to the citizens of Nagasaki and loyal Solaseed Air customers.”
The Nagasaki-Tokyo/Haneda route was the airline’s third service after Miyazaki and Kumamoto, and currently operates four round trips daily. It is positioned as one of the airline’s “core routes,” having been used by over 6.5 million passengers in the past 20 years. President Yamagi emphasized, “The greatest charm of Nagasaki lies in its diverse tourist resources, cuisine, and traditional crafts,” and highlighted a desire to “contribute to the exchange of people and goods.”
As future management challenges, he pointed out the increasing operational costs due to rising fuel and equipment prices, and acknowledged that these costs cannot be fully covered by fares. “Considering discussions in the government’s expert meetings, we plan to review fare structures,” he mentioned. To increase passenger numbers, the airline plans to enhance understanding of family, individual traveler, and corporate business needs and strengthen inbound promotion, and will consider “adding flights or charters based on aircraft conditions and demand.”
On the day of the anniversary, gratitude events were held at Nagasaki and Haneda airports. Commemorative gifts, including Nagasaki’s traditional sweets “Yoriyori” and Hasami ware amulets for aviation safety, were distributed to passengers on the Nagasaki-Haneda route (SNJ31/32/33/34/35/36). On Solaseed Air flight 36 departing from Nagasaki Airport, mascot characters from four local municipalities, including “Omuran-chan” from Omura City, “Captain Veiga” from Minami-Shimabara City, “Tsubakineko” from Goto City, and “Hachamaru” from Hasami Town, participated in the send-off, celebrating the 20th anniversary lively.
Additionally, a one-day-only 5% discount campaign was held at shops within Nagasaki Airport (Airport Shop MiSoLa-Umi-Sora-, “Tsubaki/Botan” Noodle Shop, “Shobu” Sushi Shop). By presenting the boarding pass (QR code) of Solaseed Air flights departing from or arriving at Nagasaki on the day, customers received a 5% discount on purchases over 3,000 yen (excluding tax) at retail stores and over 1,500 yen (excluding tax) at dining establishments.
Furthermore, until September 30, 10 facilities and organizations in Nagasaki Prefecture are offering a “Experience Nagasaki with Your Senses” campaign with perks by presenting boarding passes for the Nagasaki-Tokyo/Haneda route. From August 1 to September 30, original goods are available for limited-time sale at Airport Shop MiSoLa-Umi-Sora-. The official online shop “Solaseed MART” also started offering “Hyakunen Amazake,” made by Yoshidaya brewery in Minami-Shimabara City, among other campaigns celebrating the 20th anniversary.
After the event, a “Gratitude Gathering” was held at the buffet restaurant “Midousha,” located next to “Takayama,” a kiln in Hasami Town, which includes the hands-on workshop HSOCA and accommodation (minpaku/opening soon). This event invited local government and corporate stakeholders. President Yamagi emphasized connections with Nagasaki Prefecture, mentioning contributions to regional revitalization through comprehensive cooperation agreements with municipalities and aircraft wrapping. He expressed an ongoing intention to contribute to the exchange of people and goods through Nagasaki’s diverse attractions.
