GENSEN HOLDINGS opened “Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari Premium Iwate Hanamaki” on December 19.
In addition to newly built guest rooms with open-air baths, some rooms have been renovated into “Wa Bedrooms” that combine Japanese-style design with beds. The property now offers a wide variety of room types, including traditional Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, and mixed Japanese-Western rooms.
Inside the facility, there is an open atrium lobby and a premium lounge themed around the nature and culture of Hanamaki in Iwate Prefecture. The lounge is equipped with a fireplace and a drink counter. At the drink counter, guests can enjoy complimentary coffee, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine throughout their stay.
The hot spring area has been upgraded by expanding the existing open-air baths and developing them into an infinity onsen with sweeping views of the valley. From the tub structure that juts out from the cliff, guests can bathe while taking in valley scenery that changes with the seasons and time of day.
The restaurant has been completely redesigned into a space that reflects the colors of Japan’s four seasons, with large windows that look out onto pine trees and seasonal landscapes. To commemorate its first opening in Iwate Prefecture, the resort offers a selection of original menus created by chefs from facilities across the group, including dishes such as chicken breast with colorful vegetables tonnato and carpaccio of zucchini with smoked duck. At the live kitchen, roasted “Platinum Pork” (Shirokane-buta) from Hanamaki City is served.
A kids’ park has also been set up within the facility, featuring large playground equipment, slides, and a rest area, providing a play space for children.
Access: approximately 20 minutes by car from JR Hanamaki Station or from the Hanamaki-Minami Interchange (IC) on the Tohoku Expressway.
