ANA Holdings to Strengthen Shareholder Returns with New Dividend and Benefits Program
Southwest Airlines switched to a fully assigned seating system on January 27.
Previously, seats on board were unassigned, and passengers could choose any available seat in order of boarding. After the introduction of assigned seating, passengers can select seats with extra legroom or seats toward the front of the aircraft depending on the fare type. The new boarding order is divided into eight groups in total, providing priority boarding to elite status members and premium seat purchasers.
Passengers can also pre-purchase premium seat assignments and priority boarding rights.
