Cathay Pacific Lounge at Narita Airport to Temporarily Close for Renovation
American Airlines has completed construction of a new pier at Terminal C of Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, USA.
The nine newly established gates are equipped with electronic boarding gates featuring the industry’s most advanced technology, marking the first large-scale deployment of electronic boarding gates by a major U.S. network carrier.
The new pier consists of four completely new gates and five renovated gates. Construction adopted a modular building method, allowing completion within two years while minimizing the impact on operations. The modules were transported at night using self‑propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) via two runways that have been closed since April 2024.
Terminal C is one of the oldest terminals at the airport and is marking its 52nd year of operation. It is the most heavily used terminal for American Airlines, with an average of about 200 departures per day in this summer’s schedule. Once the redevelopment is complete, Terminal C will have 32 gates and a facility size exceeding 1 million square feet. A similar pier‑type expansion is also underway at Terminal A, which is scheduled to open later this year with 10 gates, an increase of 5. The first phase of Terminal F is scheduled to open next year.
At Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport, which serves as a hub airport for American Airlines, more than 67 million passengers used the airport in 2025. In April, the bank structure was expanded from 9 to 13 banks, and the airline reports improvements in on‑time arrivals and departures, as well as in connections and baggage handling.
