JR Kyushu to Resume Kyushu Shinkansen Service Between Chikugo-Funagoya and Kumamoto
Japan Entertainment held a first-anniversary ceremony for JUNGLIA OKINAWA on July 25.
At the opening ceremony, Nakijin Children’s Taiko Imajin performed a traditional drum dance. More than 100 employees welcomed visitors and presented commemorative gifts.
First-year attendance, including the spa, is expected to reach approximately 1 million visitors, with revenue projected to exceed JPY 10 billion. The park welcomed 650,000 visitors in its first six months after opening, reaching 1 million following the off-season.
Wait times for the popular attraction “Dinosaur Safari” have been reduced from a maximum of 200 to 300 minutes immediately after opening to around 60 minutes during the year-end and New Year holidays. The average number of attractions experienced per guest per day increased from 2.3 when the park first opened to 4.5 in May. Improvements to operational procedures and initiatives to level out peak entry times contributed to these results.
Park satisfaction rose from 69.2% in its opening month to 89.2% in May, helped in part by the launch of the new attraction “Yanbaru Tornado.” Major attractions boast satisfaction ratings of over 90%. Ryugin Research Institute estimates that JUNGLIA’s economic ripple effect in Okinawa Prefecture during its first year of operation amounted to JPY 49.4 billion. Analysis of visitor flow data indicates that guests are also touring the northern region of Okinawa, including Nago City.
For summer, the park is holding its “Summer Soaking Wet Operation,” featuring the special cooling unit “Water Rangers” and “Squall Dance,” which shoots columns of water into the air. It has also introduced a “Drop-In Ticket” for short stays, while Gori of the Japanese comedy duo Garage Sale has been appointed “Gori Support Captain.”
