Jetstar Japan has inaugurated its Tokyo/Narita to Asahikawa route.
The airline operates one round trip per day. This marks the first time a low-cost carrier (LCC) has entered the Asahikawa market, expanding their destinations within Hokkaido to two cities. The Tokyo/Narita to Asahikawa route was previously operated by Skymark Airlines until March 2014.
The inaugural flight deployed an Airbus A321LR. The Tokyo/Narita-bound flight GK801 had 179 reservations with 160 passengers on board. In order to reduce turnaround time, the number of seats available for sale was limited to 180. Reservations for the return flight from Asahikawa were reported to be 194.
At the launch event held at Narita International Airport, representatives such as Yu Katayama, President of Jetstar Japan, Akihiko Tamura, President of Narita International Airport, Hisae Sugawa, Director of the Narita Airport Office of the Tokyo Civil Aviation Bureau, Noboru Tomizawa, Director of the Chiba Prefectural Planning Department, and Kazunari Koizumi, Mayor of Narita City, each delivered a speech. Passengers received commemorative gifts such as a boarding certificate and a special Asahikawa rice package celebrating the inauguration.
One-way fares start at 5,590 yen to 38,190 yen for the economy class ‘Starter’ tier. Payment processing fees and airport facility charges are additional.
