British Airways is set to commence operations at London’s Stansted Airport.
Starting from May 18, 2024, BA CityFlyer will operate flights to Florence, Ibiza, and Nice using the 98-seat Embraer 190 aircraft.
BA CityFlyer services 30 European cities from London’s centrally located City Airport. Due to noise abatement restrictions, City Airport cannot facilitate take-offs or landings on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. The new flights from Stansted, in addition to the weekday flights from City Airport, will operate only on weekends, allowing for more efficient use of aircraft.
Stansted Airport, located in the northeastern part of London, is predominantly served by low-cost carriers (LCCs) such as Ryanair and easyJet. However, with airlines such as Emirates flying the Airbus A380 to this airport, flight operations have been increasing. British Airways will now serve all four major London airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick.
