JR East Japan is currently carrying out restoration work on the Echigo Line between Echigo-Akatsuka and Sekiya stations.
Due to the earthquake that occurred on the 1st with its epicenter in the Noto Peninsula, the railway’s ballast collapsed between Uchino and Niigata University-mae stations, and the company is conducting around-the-clock restoration work. At present, they are expecting to resume operations around noon on the 6th.
On the Echigo Line, service has resumed from the first train on the 3rd between Kashiwazaki and Echigo-Akatsuka stations and between Sekiya and Niigata stations, as well as from the first train on the Yahiko Line between Yahiko and Higashi-Sanjo stations. However, the company has announced that there may be suspensions, delays, and changes in the number of train cars operating.
