Qatar Airways has launched a new route between Doha and Medan on January 15.
The route will be operated three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using a Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 22 business class seats and 232 economy class seats, for a total of 254 seats.
At the inaugural event held at Hamad International Airport, passengers were welcomed with cupcakes and music. The business class menu included Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng with Beef Satay, Nasi Lemak with Shrimp Sambal, while the economy class menu featured Beef Rendang.
Dignitaries such as Ms. Fauziya Edrees Salman Al-Sulaiti, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Qatar, Mr. Ridwan Hassan, the Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, and Mr. Muhammad Bobby Afif, the Mayor of Medan, attended the official gala dinner, showcasing the strong ties between the two countries.
Medan is the capital city of North Sumatra Province. With this new route, Indonesia now hosts Qatar Airways flights in three cities, including Jakarta and Denpasar.
